Even when I do paint something (very rarely these days) it sometimes won't be shown on here as it's such a kerfaffle.<br />
<br />
I won't delete it as I can see there are some people who still stumble upon it in search of guides and suchlike I presume.<br />
If anyone wants to know how something was done or something like that please just comment and I'll be notified so I can answer it.<br />
Thanks folks, its been a good run I suppose. Thanks for the support you all gave. :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18125408140453975960noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6176900139217019653.post-79261074134953582482014-11-11T16:16:00.000+00:002014-11-11T16:16:06.699+00:00Liebster Award nominations<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So, after much thinking and searching I have decided upon which blogs to nominate for the passing on of the Liebster award.<br />
The point of the Liebster award is to raise awareness for blogs of under 200 subscribers.<br />
Here's my nominations:<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://jomada-adventures.blogspot.de/">Jomada Adventures</a> - The quality and portrayal of the minis on this blog continues to astound me. Perfect consistency.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://blitzkriegbrushes.blogspot.co.uk/">Blitzkrieg Brushes</a> - A blog I recently noticed, I like the quality and interesting style.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://miniaturesofthenorth.blogspot.co.uk/">Miniatures of the North</a> - Some fantastic sculpting skill here!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Thank you to Erurainon for nominating me :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18125408140453975960noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6176900139217019653.post-3690005572529753292014-11-09T17:07:00.001+00:002014-11-09T17:08:31.009+00:00Glorfindel, Lord of the West<br />
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #252525; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.3999996185303px;">'Glorfindel was tall and straight; his hair was of shining gold, his face fair and young and fearless and full of joy; his eyes were bright and keen, and his voice like music; on his brow sat wisdom, and in his hand was strength.'</span></blockquote>
<br />
Glorfindel was always one of my favourite characters from the Lord of the Rings partially because of how Sauron's best servants were scared of him and partially because he's all-round awesome fellow. I hope I've done him justice in my painting :)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i.imgur.com/FJeMmbX.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i.imgur.com/FJeMmbX.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i.imgur.com/MwDSt0D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i.imgur.com/MwDSt0D.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i.imgur.com/K98TBOJ.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i.imgur.com/K98TBOJ.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You may have noticed the face looks very flat, almost monotone, I wanted to almost entirely avoid highlighting of the face so as to avoid the stereotypical extremely pointed cheek bones that so characterize many a fantasy's characters. I am yet to acquire more snow so my latest models won't be truly finished until I do... but even without snow at least 50% of my models are unbased or unfinished, a fact I'm hoping to remedy over this winter season.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for looking, comments most appreciated</div>

I leave this blog alone for centuries and I comeback to find I still have 16 followers and almost 20000 page views. That is INSANE. Thank you so much for sticking around even though I am such an awful blogger. My past year or so has been chock-a-block with GCSE's and AS levels, though I won't kid you; this was hardly the reason for my hiatus. I have been away so long due to a mix of preoccupation, procrastination, and disappointment in painting results. I more or less got disheartened, got fed up, started doing other things and procrastinated to myself whenever I nearly got back into it.<br />
I can't say I'm going to be here as much as I used to be as I don't paint as much, but I'll try to get out at least a few models a month.<br />
<br />
<br />
Also it seems I have even been nominated for the Liebster award by <a href="http://erurainonslordoftherings.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/return-of-king-of-this-blog-and.html">Erurainon</a> who I find most inspiring both hobby-wise and belief-wise, so many thanks for that.<br />
I think I'll need some time to deliberate who to pass the award on to seeing as I've been out of the blogging loop for quite some time<br />
<br />

Update! =D<br />
<br />
As I already have a 'fellowship-y' looking Gimli that I am pleased with, I decided to do this one a bit more regal, as how he might have looked as the lord of the glittering caves....<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Gimli-001_zps7f819dca.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Gimli-001_zps7f819dca.jpg" width="303" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
C&C welcome as ever :)<br />
<br />
PS. Sorry about the slowness of the Mounted Gandalf project... He was all finished until he got violently attacked by both the primer and also the dettol I used to try to remove the primer. Thus some of the green stuff is peeling away and some has gone a bit floppy. Shame too, it was some of my best sculpting... :(<br />

Hi all<br />
<br />
Been meaning to do a guide on my fir trees for quite a while now... here goes.<br />
<br />
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<u>How to make Fir trees for wargaming</u></h4>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Materials I used: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
garden twine</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
pliers</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A drill</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some thin wire</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
a cork</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-Mess_zps99b27e26.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="163" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-Mess_zps99b27e26.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First off, tree making make a <i>serious</i> mess... It gets <i>everywhere</i> so do it in a well hoover-able area</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-Fibres_zps4e41a0d0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-Fibres_zps4e41a0d0.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. First, you need the twine.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Unravel it by simply pull 2 of the ends.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. unravel it even more until it's reduced to individual fibers... Using a brush sometimes helps here.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Untitled_zps0cb52cf0.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Untitled_zps0cb52cf0.png" width="280" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Get your two pieces of wire, hold then parallel and, with the pliers, twist them around each other. This will be the trunk of the tree.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Stick the twisted pieces of wire in the cork.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Put the fibers from the twine in between the 2 straight pieces of wire. How much you put there is up to you depending how dense you want the branches of the tree to be.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and you should have something like this:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-stacking-the-fibres_zps16bae982.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-stacking-the-fibres_zps16bae982.jpg" width="226" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Now, slightly twist the very top bit of the wire so it doesn't all fall out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Get you power drill, take the wire out of the cork and put the twisted part of the wire in the drill. Firmly hold the other end of the wire (the top of the tree) with the pliers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Now get the drill up to a slow speed (It helps if you rest the drill on a work bench while doing this).The fibers and the wire should twist around, making the 'branches' more or less even. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. Chop the top bit of wire off and cut your tree into the right shape with some scissors.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And you should end up with something like this:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-V2_zpsf566f999.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-V2_zpsf566f999.jpg" width="183" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Or this:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-001_zps913803d0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/TREE-001_zps913803d0.jpg" width="176" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They would look much better with some flock PVA-ed on them, but I didn't have any. They are still awaiting a paint job though :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks for looking at this very rough guide, I hope it helps someone :)</div>

Well I got rather bored of the norm over the last week or so and so I decided to repaint my Elendil model using the OSL technique on Narsil. Really very surprised with how well he came out and how easy it was compared to my last proper attempt at OSL (Weathertop Aragorn :shock: ).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/ElendilOSL-004_zpsf9b43b01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/ElendilOSL-004_zpsf9b43b01.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/ElendilOSL-003_zps86290b98.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/ElendilOSL-003_zps86290b98.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Comments, criticism and points for improvement especially appreciated on this one as it's something I'd really like to get good at and This is my first decent go at it. Be as critical as you like :)<br />
Thanks for looking<br />

Really happy with how this model turned out. He was an absoloute joy to paint. He was an absoloute joy to paint, Possibly one of my favourite ever minis - He's just jam packed with character and detail.<br />

<br />C&C welcome :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6176900139217019653.post-88004084259561359602013-02-05T18:16:00.003+00:002013-02-05T18:16:59.383+00:00A rough guide to making puddlesHi all<br />
<br />For those of you that would like to know how to make puddles here is one method of doing so:<br />
<ol>
<li>Get the base or terrain that you want to put a puddle on and mark out an area for the puddle to go in.</li>
<li> Surround tha area with sand or small peples to create a dip.</li>
<li> Paint the area the colour that you want the puddle to be (a light blue for clear or browny for muddy.)</li>
<li>Cover the area in glue (I used PVA or poly-cement) [this should make it shiny]</li>
<li>Wait for it to dry</li>
</ol>
<br />
And then you should have a pretty good puddle (hopfully!)<br />Why not give it a try?<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's some examles of ones I've made:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/saruman-pt2-007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/saruman-pt2-007.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I'm particuarly chuffed with his eyes :)<br />
<br />
C&C most welcome as always =)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6176900139217019653.post-20448497568342953822013-01-21T10:16:00.003+00:002013-01-21T10:16:57.647+00:00Beards!!!Just a mini update today... I decided that I could do with working on sculpting beards as I'm not very pleased with the beards I have sculpted so far (such as Dain's)... so I got out my green stuff and started practicing:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-011.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
They're in order as I got used to doing them... I think no.4's my favourite... which one's yours?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6176900139217019653.post-61022367360990077812013-01-10T17:55:00.002+00:002013-01-21T10:19:11.887+00:00KiliKili's done! :D <br />
Quite an intricate mini this one... Beautiful details though. I had to redo the colour shceme several times before I was happy<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Kili1-6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Kili1-6.jpg" width="198" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Kili1-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Kili1-5.jpg" width="204" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Kili1-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/Kili1-4.jpg" width="203" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
The odd thing is he's exactly the same size as Oin but he looks like a human... I have come to the conclusion that its a matter of being short and stubby :gimli: <br />
<br />
anyway, C&C welcome as always... :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6176900139217019653.post-52607036269430755802013-01-08T12:39:00.001+00:002013-01-09T12:12:54.159+00:00Dwarven conversions :)Decided to do a couple of conversions on my dwarvies from the Escape from goblin town box set...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-007.jpg" width="285" /></a></div>
<br />
Decided to chop Dori's flail off as I dont really like double weaponed models (apart from gloin, he's pretty neat). I also repositioned his sword to make him look more 'ready for action'.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-010.jpg" width="248" /></a></div>
Fili. Found this one quite hard because of such an awkward pose, I just chopped one sword off and turned the hand around to give him a 'Yar! we won!!' kinda pose :D.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-009.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Nori. I felt his hair was just a bit too weird for my liking so I sculpted my own...<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-008.jpg" width="284" /></a></div>
<br />
Not really a conversion but I guessed the dwarves would want lots of water on thier journey so I gave Bofur a water bottle.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-002.jpg" width="215" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-001.jpg" width="226" /></a></div>
I spotted Dwalin had quite a cool knife on his belt and, as I wasn't a fan of his maul, I did this conversion. It involved some GS, lots of chopping and half his arm flying ou the window (but thats another story)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii520/ej2732/EFGT-conversions-006.jpg" width="177" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
...aaand Gandalf. I copied One Ring member Monotone Matt's very nice conversion for this one :)<br />
<br />
C&C very welcome ;)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6176900139217019653.post-55430876928292235052013-01-06T21:17:00.001+00:002013-01-09T12:13:10.831+00:00Campfire finishedWell this was a really hard job for me. I found it very hard balancing the source lighting of the fire and making it look burnt and black at the same time.<br />
<br />
